Two hours before I arrived in Whakatane, this little bundle of beauty arrived in the arms of my ‘little sister’. Janine has been mum and dad’s next door neighbour since I was about 11, her parents being my parents best friends. Through high school I was the more experienced, seemingly wiser of the two of us (she’s 3 years younger than me), and ended up being the one she ran to when something happened. A LOT of things have happened to the both of us since all those years ago when a problem was merely a tiff with a girlfriend, but we’re still very close.
I was really hoping to be at the birth, but it looks like it just wasn’t meant to be.
Either way, this is my distraction on days when things just get too much. There’s something so calming and soothing about a tiny little baby. Something that just makes all the problems of the world seem so trivial.

new born baby love…a little being filled with possibility and wonderous things to come. Pure loveliness.
I hope you are doing well, dear one. Even though it may not always seem like it, your life is filled with possiblity and wonderous things to come too.
xx
